We are learning about publishing houses. Today we focused on Lee and Low Books.
Their mission is to increase "the number of diverse books available to children" and they want to publish "diverse stories that all children can enjoy."
They don't publish folktales or books with talking animals.
They pledge to work with unpublished authors and illustrators of color.

We went on a publishing scavenger hunt in our classroom. Emily was excited to find a Lee and Low title. Maya and Nia found a copy of a book published by last year's authors in Popcorn Press. We were disappointed with publishers who don't have prominent logos. Come on Publishers! Get crafty with the LOGOS!
